3 Month old Constantly Rubbing Ears

As many of my readers know, I have a 3 month old child, my how they grow so quickly! I noticed that he constantly rubs his ears so i looked it up. People haveasked is it because he is sleepy, no because he does this during his sleep or after waking up constantly. I also noticed that the are behind his ears is sore and red from all of that rubbing so we put vaseline whenever we get a chance and try to keep his cap on to keep from rubbing. We hope its not an ear infection but we dont know until our appointment in a couple of weeks. For the time being we keep the are clean and put vaseline on it when done.
